CALLED WORKER REIVEW 2021
Pastor Kurt W. Hagen
Purpose of Called Worker Evaluation
The main purpose for providing feedback to Pastor Hagen is to have an open discussion amongst the leaders of Zion and St. John’s that focuses on performance with the ultimate goal of improving the ministry. This annual evaluation is just one way we focus on improvement in the ministry among us. Your feedback is critical and important. Pastor Hagen has held his divine call with Zion & St. John’s since May 2020. PASTOR IS AGREEABLE TO THIS PROCESS THAT PROVIDES FEEDBACK!
Process of Called Worker Evaluation
Please complete only one form per church council member. There are six rating questions 0 to 10 with ability to provide optional comments. The questions on the form are derived from our brothers in the other WELS districts. The evaluation forms can be completed online or in paper form on or before Tuesday January 11.
Complete an evaluation in the advance of the council meeting if possible to help expedite the conversation. All comments received will be presented to the church council. The church council MAY CHOOSE TO INCLDUDE OR SUBTRACT OR ADD ANY COMMENTS TO SHARE WITH PASTOR.
The online and paper submission is intended to allow constructive feedback to be brought forward to the council. Individual forms will be destroyed once the council summarizes all comments. By using the online form we have no way to link responses to any specific name / person / device. Optional comments should help spur appropriate conversation about improving our ministry together with Pastor Hagen. We desire honest and constructive feedback to help the ministry. The evaluation form should be administered in Christian love. Keep the following Bible verses in mind during your evaluation process:
Ephesians 4:29
Do not let any unwholesome talk come from your mouths. Say only what is beneficial when there is a need to build up others, so that it will be a blessing to those who hear.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13
Brothers, we ask you to take note of those who work hard among you, who exercise leadership over you in the Lord, and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love, on account of their work. Live at peace with each other.
Within scripture there a place for constructive feedback (when done in love) to improve and carry out God’s work among us. The discussion during the evaluation process should focus on performance and use examples whenever possible. Keep the tone of the discussion positive. Compliment the individual in the appropriate areas and provide suggestions for improvement in a manner that will build him up and not tear him down. We take this time annually to reflect on the divine calling issued to Pastor Hagen and his call and work among us as outlined in scriptures:
Titus 1:6-9
Such a man is to be blameless, the husband of only one wife, and to have believing children who are not open to a charge of wild living or disobedience. Indeed an overseer, since he is God’s steward, must be blameless, not arrogant, not quick-tempered, not a drunkard, not violent, not eager for dishonest gain. Instead, he must be hospitable, loving what is good, self-controlled, upright, devout, and disciplined. He must cling to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he will be able both to encourage people by the sound teaching and also to correct those who oppose him.
1 Timothy 3:1-7
This saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to become an overseer, he desires a noble task. It is necessary, then, for the overseer to be above reproach, the husband of only one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not a violent man but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. It is necessary that he manage his own household well, with all dignity making sure that his children obey him. (If a man does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s church?) He must not be a recent convert, or he might become conceited and fall into the same condemnation as the Devil. In addition, he must have a good reputation with those outside the church, so that he may not fall into disgrace and the Devil’s trap.
Ephesians 6:10
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can stand against the schemes of the Devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. For this reason, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to take a stand on the evil day and, after you have done everything, to stand. Stand, then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness fastened in place, and with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace tied to your feet like sandals. At all times hold up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the Evil One. Also take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
